Telltale’s Scott Butterworth reached out to us today and noted the following: “I want to clarify: that image definitely did not come from us. It is not a leak, nor a reveal. It’s most likely something a fan created.”
oh jeez… i was about to buy these games for this winter sale. is the walking dead game worth it still? are they any good nd characters? 😦
its worth the price, i guess. 25 dollars for 10+ of entertaining content is a bargain in my opinion. but that’s obviously not gonna be the case for everyone.
the whole tagline behind the walking dead franchise; comic, tv show, and game alike – is that ‘it’s the living you gotta watch out for, not the dead’. so the game does silly shit like make you chose between traveling with a convicted rapist (who of course says he was wrongfully accused lmao like you were a convicted rapist like do you know how much evidence is required to get someone to that point) and a white-collar con man bc *morality*.
there’s even a goddamn in-game community of survivors ruled with the iron hand of a man who kicks out the sick, elderly, and the too young for not being productive enough, you find a collection of videotapes that show in graphic detail some woman being pushed to get an abortion because being pregnant is a drain on resources (like come on), you see a woman get killed who was driven ****crazy*** because its heavily implied that she was raped by her former co-workers, and on and on
sometimes it’s entertaining and real, sometimes these scenarios are just … like please. when i play these games, of course i get pissy, but hey. im too much gamer trash to find a way to avoid giving telltale my money
this is the main reason why i like The Wolf Among Us so much more than The Walking Dead. TWAU doesn’t hide that its ridiculous and camp, which means that when something serious like abuse happens, the drama of the scenario is plain-laiden out without making it a lifetime special. you see a sex worker being hit, you as the Big Bad Wolf get to break the jaw of the fucker who did it, and the sex worker gets to have a mouthful. thats it; no fancy ‘grey morality’, no ‘what’s right and wrong’.
