bi-binary:

Tumblr just flip flops from one extreme to another. We went from:

“Demiboys and demigirls are fake and cis special snowflakes trying to be trans for a trend, if you’re so close to the binary you’re just male/female”

to

“Are you male-aligned or female-aligned nb? What? You cant NOT be aligned because its about oppression/you can’t opt out of gender/gender as a class"

Like, where’s the middle ground here? It SHOULD have been:

“Hey so there’s an issue with seeing binary-aligned nbs as fake or cis or not as nb, but there’s also a big issue with erasing the existence of non-aligned people and telling them they need to align. Maybe…maybe we should…weird thought but…respect ALL nbs?”

Notice both are attempts to reconcile people into binarized categories

i wonder how many historic trans men we’ve lost to “this WOMAN went by a man’s name, wore men’s clothes, took the job of a man, lived as a man… GIRL POWER!”

this isn’t a “pushing my identity on historic people” thing, it’s the fact that every single time i or another person brings up the possibility of someone like us in history, we’re immediately shut down, told that we didn’t “exist yet”, given a billion different reasons why we aren’t ALLOWED to see these people as reflective of us and our struggles and experiences – i get that we didn’t have the vocabulary back then but for so many of you the IDEA that someone who went to the same stretches that we do today to separate from their dead selves and identify similar to the way trans people do is too “far out there” and “disrespectful” to them somehow. they’re dead. we’re alive. we’re trying to connect the pieces. go get your kicks out of isolating us from history somewhere else, away from me.

yeah, there were women who did crossdress in order to take up jobs they would not have been permitted to access

but when people say it about Albert Cashier, who donned Union uniform, bound his chest, and lived as a man even after the Civil War, when he was reclusive and lived in a tiny village, after there would have been no incentive for him to do so, I question their motives.

I also question their motives when they list Alan L Hart, who legally changed his name and was one of the first trans men to pursue a hysterectomy, referring to himself as “a fellow.”

people DONT want historical figures to be trans. they WANT to interpret these historical figures as women, not trans men, because that makes them uncomfortable.

same with the musician billy tipton, who hid his trans status from his wife and children his whole life, and whose son didn’t know his father was trans until billy was dead. he told his wife that his binding was necessary because he had been in an automobile accident before they met, never disclosing his trans status to her. the number of historians that refer to him by his deadname and call him an “actress” make me feel sick. he was a stealth trans man around everyone but his parents, and it hurts trans men everywhere to call trans men in history “lesbians”.

If you want to learn more about any of these men:

Acknowledging women in history is important, but don’t do it at the expense of other oppressed groups and erase trans people from history. ~🐱

Every time you hear about a “woman who lived as a man” please consider that they might have been a man all along

omg are yall ok? also do you mind me asking the differences between what actually went down and what the terf said? i hate the fact that someone lost their job over something they didnt even do…

[MASSIVE WARNING FOR TRANSPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIC VIOLENCE]

i know the person in question’s partner does not feel safe taking public transit, and that the person who got fired has deleted / privated all their social media. so i’m ok – i wasn’t there on tuesday – but i know everyone’s real shaken up. this is all from what i’ve heard from people who were there, (again, because i wasn’t there but i trust the people i’ve heard this from – and i could have the person who was assaulted outside the bar first incorrect, so keep that in mind) but this terf is an ex of a drag king performer (who is lovely and shouldn’t be maligned for not knowing a shitty terf was a shitty terf at the time). said terf showed up to an event at a gay bar a lot of us go to a lot, sat down near a trans guy who was not comfortable with it, made a comment, and she responded by saying something along the lines of well you still have a vagina … she is told to leave, and then says she won’t leave until the bar owner tells her to … and he does tell her to get the fuck out, so.

outside of the bar said terf proceeds to yell at this trans guy, and hits him. said trans guy clocks her right back, and there’s a fight. the person who got fired (a nb drag performer) got in the middle to help the trans guy, probably did hit said terf, and eventually broke up the fight. said terf has since reported this nb person to the police and gotten them fired from their job. so idk what lgbt history she’s been reading, but she’s literally doing the things we’re trying to get straight people to stop doing to us. so like just take the L and go home. her tumblr header also says “ovary gang” so i think that’s really all one needs to know.

FURTHERMORE: if you have any spare cash and want to donate to the nb performer who lost their job, send me a message and i can give you their paypal. just tell them emily sent you 💕

If you believe that ace, aro, and aspec people are “cishet”, unfollow me right now. You are not welcome here.

Edit: If someone is ace/aro/aspec and identifies themselves PERSONALLY as cishet and considers themselves cishet, then that’s fine since they chose to identify as that. But if you view ace/aro/aspec as inherently “cishet” until they seemingly ‘prove’ otherwise, that’s where I have an issue.

You can’t redefine what cishet means, asshole. An aro or ace person who is cis and straight is cishet and benefits from cishet privilege. I don’t give a shit whether or not they choose to use the label of Cishet.

According to this post, which states:

“Cishet” was a word coined by trans people meant to describe someone who has full, unconditional access to straight privilege – that is, someone who is 100% perisex, cisgender, heterosexual, and heteroromantic.”

I am not redefining cishet. If someone is Aromantic or Asexual, they do NOT benefit from full straight cisgender privilege, seeing as though they are not Cis Heterosexual Heteromantic to begin with

Not only this, but there are multiple posts and blogs that actively provide sources and first-hand accounts that if someone is aspec they can, and do, face different kinds of oppression such as but not limited to: corrective rape, being seen as less than human, feeling “broken”, being seen as mentally ill or something being medically wrong with them for feeling this way, having partners acting as though the aspec individual is somehow denying the other their “right” to sex, being abused in multiple ways and manipulated to feel as though you’re being childish or selfish, others ignoring physical boundaries to try “fixing” you, and more. And in a society that seems to show sexual/romantic depictions as well as trying to play on people’s attraction towards those deemed “sexually appealing”, it can feel really awkward having to hear and see these things all the time. And yes, these things go for, you guessed it, the “CisHet” aspec individuals as well seeing as though these are ASPEC experiences.

While yes, if someone is cis they do benefit from being cis, and while being in some form of relationship with a different gender than oneself might appear to benefit the person from the view of outsiders since they’re then assumed to be straight, this does not negate the fact that many aspec individuals including myself face different pressures and issues that cisgender heterosexual heteromantic individuals DO NOT face based on their sexuality or romantic orientation. And if someone feels as though they’re cishet while also being aspec, then they can choose that for themselves if it feels right for them personally, but to force this upon everyone is just wrong since someone else cannot determine someone’s identity for them when it comes to incredibly personal labels such as these.

And just in case you and others don’t feel like hovering over the links, they are as follows:

@palominocorn on how using “Cishet” towards Ace and Aro people isn’t correct

@millenniumfae and others on What Aspec Individuals Tend to Report Experiencing

About 7 Blogs that go over How Asexuality is Classified as a Mental Disorder

@forevrdreamingofbetterthings talking about how Even Aspec Individuals Face Different Forms of Oppression for being Aspec

@fuckyeahasexual on how Their Many Mods and Other Blogs That Disagree with the whole “Aces Dont Face Problems” sorta talk

And for those that want a little more on what that “A” in LGBT+ stands for, here ya go

———

With even the most basic of listening to what aspec people have experienced and felt, most anyone can tell that even “cishet” aspecs can and do face different pressures and problems that they wouldn’t have to face if they truly had all of that “CisHet” privilege that others claim that they have. And just because some people don’t experience the issues listed, it doesn’t take away how many others have experienced otherwise.

Brilliant collection of links! OP is spot on

hot take: hrt, gender therapy and trans surgeries should be free

if cis people don’t have to pay to have a body that doesn’t make them dysphoric, neither should trans people

So by that logic does that mean that I should get anti-depressants and all the other pills for my mental issues for free because the people who don’t suffer from them don’t have to pay to have them?

yes

And does that mean that corrective lenses should also be free, because people with good vision don’t need to pay to see clearly, and that devices to aid in mobility for people with limited mobility (from crutches to (practical) canes to wheelchairs to prosthetics) should also be free, because people who don’t have limited mobility don’t need to pay for them?

yes? why does everyone in the notes keep trying to come up with gotchas lmao everything to do with healthcare should be free

Hey guys. Fellow Player Malu (@Malucomplica on twitter) wants to change her name and gender on her Blizzard account, and they’re acting dismissive and refusing to act on it. She’s being harassed on Overwatch’s forums, not to mention on fb OW groups. It’s absolutely disgusting.

Please, signal boost as much as possible. Let it reach everywhere until Blizzard can’t ignore it anymore. We love Overwatch for its diversity – but if that’s going on, then it’s hypocrisy to a tee.

My dudes. This is a serious business here. We can’t allow a company to act in that way, steamrolling someone’s right to have their legal name on their stuff.

This ain’t art, but it’s probably a LOT more important than anything I’ve posted in this blog. Please RT/reblog/repost.

I’ll never get over how exclusionists define the lgbt community as “a group of ppl who banded together over their mutual sga experiences… oh and trans” like we’re just tacked on for literally no related reason lmfao

who wants to bet the next hot exclusionist take is “transphobia is just misdirected homophobia”

tbh you should be cashing in by now bc they’ve been doing that since forever
