I got my Artemis soaps today, and I barely just ordered them! Great turnaround, they smell WONDERFUL (my dog keeps pressing her nose against them and whuffing), and they’re gorgeous! Thank you so much!

your soaps are so f cool. are you using a kit or are they all made from scratch? even if its from a kit thats amazing

They are indeed made from scratch! ‘Soap’ is a basic reaction made from fatty acids and salts put together. The resulting product allows the soap to pick up dirt and oils naturally. Soap is an ancient human tool, and nothing is as valuable for cleaning than soap. Only thing that comes close is oil alone, where you can pick up dirt and grime using oils that are body safe by scraping it off. But soap is far more versatile and effective.

So anyone can make soap with just two ingredients; oil, lye, and water. In the right proportions, they will become basic soap!

Pictured here are the soap formulas, after they’ve been dyed and given their corresponding essential oil mixes. So to make my soaps, I bought bulk vegetable oils and pure lye crystals. Professionally-made soap often include other additives to enhance the formula, such as liquid protein conditioners for moisture, clays and menthols for sunblocks and oil control, and other surfactants and etc. And artisan soaps can also include things like powdered milk, activated charcoal, oatmeal, dried herbs, and cool accessories.

My recipe is very simple; it’s just the oil, lye, and essential oils. It’s enough to make a bar of soap that’s mild enough for sensitive skin, holds the scent very well, and makes a quick and rich lather.

But as simple the recipe is, it took days for me to get the right formula … it’s like baking, you know, it’s all about chemistry and mass and room temperature and all this stuff I’m bad at. But I was determined, and nowadays I can eyeball the proportions as I make the next batch!

Hi, I’m trying to buy some of your soaps, but I can’t figure out what the smells mean or what ‘persephone’ or ‘titanium’ is supposed to smell like… and I did look! But I can’t seem to find anything on that subject…

dont worry! those are just names i used to describe the specific scent mixes dedicated to sexual identities. ‘titanium’ is the name for the mix dedicated to grey-asexuality, and ‘persephone’ the demisexual one!

you can find the list of all essential oils used in the mixes in the item description. for the titanium one;

I have a question about the non binary soap, it says that there is grapefruit scent in it, I’m not supposed to have grapefruit because of a medicine I take, so I suppose the question is, is is it grapefruit extract or just the scent?

The essential oils used in the soaps are advertised as being natural essential oils, aka they are oils extracted from the fruit/flower/wood/etc itself. So if you are allergic to citrus, you will not want to expose yourself to any citrus essential oils!

However, I am very happy to fill a custom order of soaps to fit your needs! If you want a ‘Guanyin’ soap in the scent ‘Balathang’, but you can’t be exposed to grapefruit or citrus, I can definitely make a custom soap that omits the citrus from the scent perfume.

A custom order will take a few more days from time of order. A regular order placed on Wednesday takes 1-2 business days to ship. A custom order will need to have the soap made-to-order, so it’ll be 3-6 days until it’s shipped. A new soap needs to first sit and properly emulsify and saponify to become proper soap. Otherwise, it’s just a lump of oils and lye.

Shoot me a message at etsy if you want to talk about a custom order! You can just put in your buyers comments when ordering that you require no grapefruit/citrus oil in your soap!

Ik this is super late but I just saw all d discourse over your Artemis soap and I just ??? I study mythology and theology along with art history and let me just tell you- the sexuality of d God’s is endlessly debated, researched and analyzed. No one has the right to hassle u about your creation. Especially when those terms didn’t even exist then and sexuality is fluid. I’ve always thought Artemis was ace and a lesbian because one doesn’t cancel d other. Your work is great and ignore them.
