You obviously haven’t seen turians swim. It’s a lot of flailing and splashing interrupted by occasional bouts of drowning. – Garrus Vakarian
By the good luck of their biology and biochemistry, turians excel at many physical activities. They have tough skin, efficient muscles, lightweight but resilient bones, and fast reflexes; their eyesight is excellent, their sense of smell sharper than that of human or asari (although not as good as that of krogans), and their hearing very good. Accordingly, they are fast, strong, and have excellent reaction time and hand-eye coordination; it’s no wonder that they took over military and policing duties after the Krogan Rebellions, and that the Hierarchy Games are one of the most popular and celebrated athletic events in Citadel space.
But there’s one place where turians are outmatched by pretty much every other species in the galaxy: swimming.
i don’t think there was enough emphasis on different species introducing each other to their foods
there would totally be snobby dextro restaurants that rich turians would frequent, and quarians would pass by longingly hoping to one day get in
hanar would have phenomenal vegetarian food stands, but nobody would quite be sure what was in their food because they’d launch into the soul names of the various types of ingredients they used if you asked
asari would have delicate desserts and spun candies and sweet doughs that rose just right, dusted with sugar
krogan would have the best damn barbecue in citadel space
drell would be the willy wonkas of the galaxy, with weird and wonderful food that never quite worked in the way you expected it to
and a human would open a stand with hot dogs and burritos and soft pretzels and suddenly all the other races would have a lot more respect for them
Okay but if Shepard and Garrus end up having a turian child (either through adoption or Space Magic And Miranda™, whichever you prefer) Garrus and the child absolutely learn how to have private conversations through subharmonics.
Nothing sophisticated of course (because I imagine subharmonics are mostly for adding nuances to the language not for forming unique words, otherwise at that point translators pick it up) but they definitely have a code system for things like “Your mother was just speaking with the Council for the past three hours, hide” or “I see you trying to sneak out of the house behind your mother’s back, you have five seconds to turn around and march your butt back to bed before I unleash her on you” or “I bought dextro cake at the market today and we’re definitely eating all of it the second your mother’s out of the kitchen”
However while they both know that there’s no way Shepard can actually hear them because these sounds register lower than human hearing, they swear that, somehow, she does. Like, some mothers get proverbial eyes on the back of their heads, Commander Shepard apparently gets the uncanny ability to tell when her husband and child are conspiring on a vocal frequency that humans are incapable of hearing.
Remember how the Reapers attacked and Garrus made sure to pack a bottle of expensive booze before deploying to Menae, just in case Shepard happened to bust out of jail and show up?
Not gonna lie, I’m gonna be playing ME:A and wondering:
Liara is 700 years now at this point. She is nearing the Matriarch stage, if she isn’t already there. Is she doing well? Did she have a brood of little blue children. Has the years been kind?
Also Grunt would be around 600 years old. Is he ok? Is he eating well? Does he get enough sleep? Is someone providing my tank-son with enough ammo?
